- Shuaibu was sworn in on Thursday evening after his new position was ratified by the state executive council of the party
- The process returned erstwhile acting state chairman, Samaila Tadawus, to his position as vice chairman
The All Progressives Congress (APC) branch in Adamawa has endorsed the selection of Idris Shaibu, its legal advisor, as the next substantive chairman.
Samaila Tadawus, the acting party chairman, returns to his original position as vice chairman of the party as a result of the recent development.
Ibrahim Bilal’s resignation from the role of acting chairman was accepted by Tadawus in September 2022.
The Adamawa Northern Zone executives of the party chose Idris Shaibu as the next chairman on the grounds that since the outgoing chairman Bilal is from the northern zone, someone from there should take over. Shaibu is a lawyer and was previously the party’s legal adviser.
Shaibu was sworn in on Thursday evening after his elevation to his new position was rectified by the State Executive Committee of the party.
Adamawa APC Secretary, Raymond Chidama, who had earlier explained that Shaibu was nominated for the position by the executive committee of the party in the northern zone, read out the nomination letter.
SEC members endorsed the nomination, certifying Shaibu as the new substantive chairman.
In his acceptance speech, the new chairman said he would be focusing on the task of reconciling all APC members who may have grudges.
