Zamfara governor honours pilgrim for returning $80,000 during Hajj

The government expresses tremendous happiness and appreciation for Hajiya Aishatu Nahuce's sincerity

Governor Dauda Lawal of Zamfara State has recognized the remarkable honesty of a female pilgrim, Hajiya Aishatu ‘yan Guru Nahuce, from Bungudu Local Government Area. During the last Hajj exercise in Saudi Arabia, she discovered and returned $80,000 (equivalent to about N60 million) to its rightful owner.

In a ceremony held at the Council Chambers in the Government House, the governor, along with all the emirs of the state, commended Hajiya Aishatu Nahuce’s exemplary act of integrity. The Zamfara Pilgrims Welfare Agency officials received the sum from her and ensured its safe return to the rightful owner.

The governor’s spokesperson, Sulaiman Bala Idris, expressed the government’s immense joy and appreciation for Hajiya Aishatu Nahuce’s sincerity and honesty in such a significant situation. Her actions serve as an inspiring example of good character and ethical conduct for others to follow.

The statement read: “The entire state is proud and happy over what Hajiya Aishatu did in Saudi Arabia. It has added to the good name of the entire people of Zamfara.

“It is an honour for us not to Hajiya Aisha, she has written her name in the good books of history. Such a gesture is expected of any faithful Muslim, especially in a holy land.

“We have seen a clear example of honesty worth emulating from Hajiya Aisha, believe me, not everyone can find such a huge amount of money at a place where there was no one, and return it.

“As part of the arrangement, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu will also honour her for this act of honesty.”

Earlier, the Emir of Bungudu, Alhaji Hassan Attahiru, while introducing the honouree, stressed that her action has generated more respect for the people of Zamfara.

Meanwhile, Aisha used the occasion to narrate how the incident happened in the holy land before the governor and other government officials.
