- Dr. Abdullahi Ganduje, the new APC National Chairman, will hold his first official meeting with the National Working Committee
- The meeting, scheduled for Tuesday, will likely prioritize appointing officers for vacant positions in the NWC
Dr Abdullahi Ganduje, the new National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress, will meet with members of the National Working Committee on Tuesday, his first official assignment as the party’s leader.
The development came just two days after the former Kano State governor was ratified at the ruling party’s 12th National Executive Committee meeting at the Transcorp Hilton in Abuja.
Aside from Ganduje, Senator Ajibola Basiru, Spokesperson for the Ninth Senate, was also ratified as the APC’s new national secretary during Thursday’s NEC meeting.
A party chieftain who requested anonymity told our correspondent that the 73-year-old Kano State politician would chair his first meeting at Tuesday’s national headquarters.
He said;
We are having an NWC meeting on Tuesday. It will be Ganduje’s first official meeting.
I am sure it is an effort on his part to get familiar with the committee members in a more relaxed atmosphere following the stress of the NEC meeting that approved his appointment. Basiru has also promised to make himself available for the meeting.
On what will be the possible agenda for the meeting, the party chieftain disclosed that priority would be given to appointing officers for the vacant positions in the NWC.
PDP Mocks APC Over Emergence Of Ganduje As National Chairman
The main opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has chastised the All Progressives Congress (APC) for electing Dr. Abdullahi Ganduje, the “ethically challenged” former Governor of Kano State, as its National Chairman.
The PDP said in an Abuja statement on Thursday that the APC’s choice of Ganduje as its National Chairman, despite the public corruption and bribery allegations against him, confirms that the APC is a “cesspit of corruption and a haven for thieves, bribe takers, and treasury looters.”
According to a statement signed by Hon. Debo Ologunagba, National Publicity Secretary of the party, appointing Ganduje, “notoriously referred to as “Gandola” by Nigerians over the infamous video of him stuffing his gown with US Dollar notes as bribe allegedly from a contractor, while serving as Governor of Kano State, validates that the APC is a putrid Party of embezzlers and charlatans.
