- State government learns Olugbeja’s plight through video in Osogbo, confirmed by Teslim Igbalaye
Seyi Olugbeja, a mentally challenged man from Lagos State, was able to return to Osun thanks to the assistance of the Osun State administration.
On Saturday, August 5, 2023, the man—a resident of Osun—was captured on camera.
The State Government Secretary, Teslim Igbalaye, confirmed the development to journalists on Sunday in Osogbo. He said that the State government learned about Olugbeja’s condition via the video.
In his words, “The attention of the State Governor, His Excellency Senator Ademola Adeleke was drawn to the viral video who subsequently directed me to liaise with the officers of the State Ministry of Health and other relevant government agencies to make necessary arrangements for the return and eventual treatment of the young man.
“We made contact with Alhaji Wakili and facilitated Seyi’s movement from Lagos to Osun State this morning. I, along with other staff of the State ministry of health personally received Seyi who was brought to the State by Alhaji Wakili at the Government House, Oke Fia, Osogbo earlier today.”
Igbalaye revealed that the mentally unstable man has been handed over to the officials of the Uniosun Teaching Hospital for proper medical attention.
He also hinted that the State government has also established contact with Seyi’s family and that they have been adequately briefed on the latest development.
Seyi Olugbeja was seen in Lagos and was able to identify himself as an Osun indigene whose father is from Osogbo and mother from Ilesa.
