Police await autopsy report on slain Ogun senator’s aide

Lagos State Police Command confirms the autopsy due to suspicious circumstances

The Lagos State Police Command has confirmed the completion of a post-mortem examination on the body of Mr. Adeniyi Sanni, an aide to a senator from Ogun State, who was tragically shot and killed in Lagos.

Benjamin Hundeyin, the state’s police spokesperson, stated that the autopsy was necessary due to the circumstances surrounding Sanni’s death.

Adeniyi Sanni had been in the service of Senator Olamilekan Solomon, representing Ogun West in the Senate.

Hundeyin explained,
The lifeless body of Mr. Sanni was discovered with gunshot wounds at Toyota bus stop in the Oshodi district of Lagos.

Hundeyin said, “We are required by law to do an autopsy because of the nature of his death; it was a murder.

“So, his body has been sent to a general hospital for autopsy, autopsy has been done but the result is not yet out.

“We are expecting the result any moment from now, while we are still investigating to see if we can get on the suspects.”

The senator’s spokesperson, Kayode Odunaro, shared that the deceased had contacted his wife to request the details of his vehicle papers. His encounter with security personnel at a checkpoint in the Berger area of Lagos prompted the call. Alarmed by his subsequent inaccessibility, his wife grew concerned.

He added that a passerby later called to inform her of the discovery of her husband’s body.

According to Hundeyin, who spoke with the News Agency of Nigeria, a distressing revelation emerged – five bullet holes were found on the back of the deceased.
