- Napoli President De Laurentiis insists Victor Osimhen won’t be sold this summer, even for €200 million
- Osimhen misses training due to ankle sprain; aims to recover for Napoli’s Serie A title defence
Napoli president Aurelio De Laurentiis has revealed that even if their valuation of €200 million is met, the club’s most prized asset, Victor Osimhen, will not be sold this summer.
De Laurentiis made this known to the Napoli Ultras during a retreat before the team’s training in Abruzzo on Wednesday.
The Partenopei President, who turned down a lucrative €130 million bid from Saudi Arabia’s Al-Hilal for the Nigerian striker, is now focused on securing Osimhen’s future at the club through contract negotiations.
I’m not selling Osimhen even for €200m,”De Laurentiis was quoted as saying according to Calcio Napoli.
And he is not leaving.
Meanwhile, Osimhen had to miss training with his club teammates on Tuesday due to a sprain in his right ankle.
The 24-year-old suffered serious injuries after colliding with his new club teammate Natan de Souza during a challenge.
It’s unclear whether he’ll play in Napoli’s final preseason game against Greek club Apollon on Friday, as he missed their previous two games against Augsburg and Girona due to a muscle strain.
Osimhen capped an outstanding season in Italy last season by finishing as the league’s top scorer with 26 goals in 32 appearances. His outstanding performance also earned him the prestigious Golden Boot award, making him the league’s first African player to receive this honour.
Napoli is currently training at the Aqua Montis Resort and Spa in Rivisondoli in preparation for their Serie A title defence against Frosinone next Saturday.
