Governor Nasir Idris has given the green light for an allocation of N675 million to cover furniture allowances for the 21 elected chairpersons of local councils.
In a statement released on Thursday in Birnin Kebbi, Chief Press Secretary to the governor, Ahmed Idris, conveyed this information.
Mohammed Sani-Umar, the permanent secretary of the Ministry for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, clarified that this approval pertains to the period from 2022 to 2024.
The permanent secretary expressed gratitude for the governor’s compassionate action and acknowledged his dedication to enhancing people’s lives through impactful projects.
Aminu Ahmed, who holds the positions of Chair for both the Association of Local Governments of Nigeria (ALGON) and the Birnin Kebbi LGA, reacted to the news by extending commendations on behalf of his fellow chairpersons.
He provided assurance that the funds will encompass furniture allowances for the local government council, councillors, and secretaries.
