- Progressive Young Leaders Assembly protests Tinubu’s failure to recognize key APC members, calls for overhaul of party’s reward system
- Chairman Kurawa criticizes ministerial appointments that overlooked hardworking contributors to APC’s victory in presidential elections and warns of future consequences
The Progressive Young Leaders Assembly (PYLA) has protested President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s refusal to appoint some prominent members of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
It stated that the failure to recognise the efforts of some key members, including former Governors Kayode Fayemi, Umaru Tanko Almakura, Bello Masari, Ahmad Sani Yerima, and Abdusalam Abdulkarim Zaura, who contributed significantly to the president’s victory, demonstrated that the party’s reward system needed to be completely overhauled.
Abubakar Kurawa, Chairman of the PYLA, stated this yesterday while speaking to journalists in Abuja.
He expressed his displeasure with President Tinubu’s ministerial and other appointments, which he said did not consider those who worked tirelessly and gave their time, physical energy, and hard-earned resources to support the party’s victory in the February 25 presidential elections.
Kurawa also expressed concern that Fayemi, Almakura, Masari, Dambazzau, Abdulkarim Zaura, Senators Aishatu Binani, Ovie Omo-Agege, Andy Uba, and others had yet to receive even a letter of commendation for their efforts.
He claimed that if the ‘democratic injustice’ is not addressed properly, the APC will be doomed in the race to 2027 and beyond.
Also, on the list of politicians who gave the APC participation in 2023 polls their best shot was Abdussalam Abdulkarim Zaura (popularly known as AA Zaura).
Tinubu Not Fair To Igbos – Segun Showunmi
Segun Showunmi, a leader of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), has criticised President Bola Tinubu for the way he is appointing his cabinet, alleging that he is not being fair to the southeast zone.
According to Showunmi, the administration has engaged in many actions that could be considered grave errors.
On Wednesday, he stated the claim while participating in the Politics Today programme on Channels Television.
Showunmi admitted that he is a little uneasy about the prospect of his people (the southwest) obtaining more influential positions in Tinubu’s administration.
