Tottenham Hotspur has granted Harry Kane permission to travel to Germany for a medical after the London club accepted Bayern Munich’s £100 million-plus offer.
While the 30-year-old had considered staying at Spurs and waiting for a free transfer next summer, it is understood that he now believes the move would be best for his career.
There has also been no friction with Bayern, and the club has made it clear that they believe they can win the Champions League with a team led by Kane and managed by Thomas Tuchel.
According to multiple sources, the player’s camp had been hoping for a move to Manchester United or Real Madrid, but when that didn’t happen, they quickly weighed the pros and cons and decided to proceed with the agreement with Bayern.
Kane now hopes to play against Leipzig in the German Super Cup on Saturday, but there is still a lot of paperwork to go through before the deal can be finalised.
Spurs are expected to receive more than £80 million up front, with the total deal exceeding £110 million in achievable clauses.
Kane is about to enter the final year of his Tottenham contract, which means he could leave for nothing in a year.
