A Special Unit from the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency apprehended three significant illegal drug syndicates through well-planned actions in various parts of Lagos State.
According to Femi Bababfemi, the agency’s spokesperson, these operations resulted in the capture of a female ringleader and four other key figures involved in the drug trade. Seized from their hidden locations were substantial quantities of Cocaine, Opioids, and Loud.
One of the syndicate leaders, Faith Ebele Nwankwo, was apprehended on August 9th at her residence in the FESTAC area of Lagos. She had been observed loading tramadol into an unmarked SUV. A search of her residence and a warehouse yielded a significant haul of Tramaking pills and a white Honda Pilot SUV.
In a separate operation targeting transnational drug syndicates dealing with Cocaine and Canadian Loud, the Special Unit traced the activities of the syndicate to an estate in Lekki-Ajah area. Urama Chinemelum Precious and Adelakun Ilelabayo Oluade were caught with a substantial amount of cocaine and Canadian Loud. Further searches led to the discovery of more Loud at Chinemelum’s residence.
Another operation on August 5th targeted a syndicate involved in the diversion of ephedrine hydrochloride, a precursor chemical used in methamphetamine production. Two members of the cartel, Udeh Vincent Ogbonna and Okonkwo Ifeanyi Uzozie, were arrested while attempting to transport the concealed substance. A search revealed Udeh Vincent Ogbonna was carrying a sum of US Dollars.
NDLEA operatives also carried out operations in several other states, resulting in the confiscation of a significant amount of skunk, totaling over 13,391.8 kilograms.
