Ekiti State Governor Biodun Oyebanji has suspended his newly appointed Commissioner for Chieftaincy and Home Affairs, Olaiya Atibioke.
Olaiya was suspended on Saturday for two weeks with immediate effect.
The suspension is coming barely one week after his inauguration.
Recall that Governor Oyebanji, on Tuesday, inaugurated a total of 19 commissioners and 14 special advisers.
His suspension was contained in a statement signed by the governor’s Special Adviser on Media, Yinka Oyebode.
The Governor stated that the suspension follows the commissioner’s unauthorised departure from the three-day retreat organised for members of the State Executive Council and Permanent Secretaries held in Ado-Ekiti, the State capital on Saturday.
“The Commissioner left the retreat without permission. He was nowhere to be found during the signing of the performance charter,” he said.
The Governor, who fully participated in all the sessions of the retreat, had earlier noted that there would be zero tolerance for indiscipline and poor performance.
