Borno South Senator, Ali Ndume has said the actions and utterances of Senate President Godswill Akpabio are unbecoming of an elder.
Ndume is reacting to Akpabio’s disclosure that money had been sent to the senators to spend as they like during their recess.
Ndume said senators will take drastic action against Akpabio if he continues to make unguarded and reckless comments that portray the lawmakers in bad light.
Ndume said Akpabio’s comments were unbecoming of an elder statesman and someone that occupies the position of the number three citizen in the country.
Speaking with BBC Hausa Service, Ndume confirmed that senators received two million naira.
He, however, lamented that Akpabio’s remark was an embarrassment to senators.
According to him: “All senators received N2 million. And I am making this comment with a heavy heart because he (Akpabio) is the cause of this controversy.
“He made a very wrong statement, and I warned him immediately that his comments were unbecoming of an elder.
“In fact, we are even planning to take drastic action against him if he continues making unguarded statements and acting as if we are kids.”
