- Ganduje also commended the lawmakers for their contribution to the development of democracy in Kano State
- Ganduje urges 14 members of Kano State House of Assembly to work for state development
Members of the Kano House of Assembly who were elected on the APC platform have been urged by Abdulahi Ganduje, the party’s national chairman, to cooperate with state governor Abba Yusuf.
He asserted that Kano residents, regardless of party affiliation, are entitled to democratic benefits and that in order to obtain them, they must cooperate fully with the governor.
The APC was defeated by the New Nigerian Peoples Party (NNPP) in the general election of 2023 for the governorship of Kano.
However, when 14 members of the Kano State House of Assembly paid him a courtesy visit on Monday at the party secretariat in Abuja, Ganduje emphasised the need for them to contribute to the development of Kano State.
He said: “When I see most of you, I see myself because some of you were together 25 years ago. Some of you won elections and were assembly members and lost elections and returned after seven years. You have been in a cycle with me. So, I can call some of you veterans of democracy. I was not surprised when I learned you are here to see me on a congratulatory visit.”
Ganduje also commended the lawmakers for their contribution to the development of democracy in Kano State.
His words: “The state governor is of a different political party, but I want you to know that the whole essence of politics is the development of the people. I urge you, irrespective of the different political parties, to cooperate with the state governor for the development of Kano State.
“That does not prevent you from maintaining your position as members of the State Assembly. It does not stop us from working together to have an APC government in Kano State. What is most important is for the people of Kano State to get the dividends of democracy.
“I want you to work peacefully with the government in Kano state and I assure you that we will provide you with all encouragement so that we get more and more members of the State Assembly and also until we get a governor of our party.”
