Franklin Akinyosuyi, a 26-year-old individual apprehended a few days ago in Ondo State on charges of possessing a human skull, has disclosed that he used to apply “black soap” on the skull during his baths.
Akinyosuyi, who is suspected of being involved in internet fraud and also manages a boutique alongside his photography pursuits, explained that he turned to ritual practices to revitalize his struggling business.
During his presentation at the state police headquarters, the accused shared that he received the human skull and other ritualistic items from a herbalist in Ikirun, Osun State, after paying a sum of N200,000.
Akinyosuyi admitted to the crime, having been taken into custody the previous week following the discovery of the human skull in his residence within the Elewuro area of Ondo town, situated in the Ondo West Local Government Area.
He mentioned that he utilized these materials for just one month when his business failed to thrive as anticipated. As he was on the verge of disposing of them, he was apprehended by the authorities.
According to him: “I am a photographer, and I own a boutique as well. It was last year that my uncle took me to a herbalist. I explained to him that my business wasn’t moving well, so he asked me to pay him N200,000 to make a concoction for me, which I paid within three weeks.
“After he was done, he called me to come pick it up, and that was last November. He directed that I should be bathing with the human head every Thursday at exactly 1 am. I used it for a month but didn’t see any difference in my business. So, I had to call the herbalist and tell him to refund my money.”
The police spokesperson in the state, SP Funmilayo Odunlami-Omisanya, while giving details of the case, said an evangelist and a herbalist had been arrested in connection with the crime.
“Interrogation and investigation led to the arrest of one Oyegoke Dare, an evangelist who gave the skull and other fetish materials to the suspect; one Oyelade Sarafa, an herbalist who also confessed to having helped procure the skull from one Asekun (a vigilante) in Ikirun, was also arrested. Two other suspects mentioned in connection with the case are currently at large,” she said.
