- Basiru was unequivocal in his dismissal of the cases
- Basiru dismissed speculation that the APC is gearing up for a rerun election
The lawsuits contesting President Bola Tinubu’s victory in the recently held presidential election, according to Senator Ajibola Basiru of the All Progressives Congress, APC, are “terribly hopeless.”
Recall that Tinubu’s victory is being contested in court by Atiku Abubakar of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and Peter Obi of the Labour Party (LP).
Basiru, though, was clear-cut in his decision to throw the cases out.
He spoke on Sunday while fielding questions on Channels Television’s Sunday Politics.
Basiru dismissed speculation that the APC is gearing up for a rerun election.
“From my knowledge of electoral law in Nigeria and having read the petitions and also being part of the proceedings, I would say that all the petitions against President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s election are hopeless and nobody needs to even waste time in dismissing same.
“They are hopeless petitions, terribly hopeless,” he boasted.
