Governor Bala Mohammed Swears In 24 New Commissioners

24 commissioners sworn in by Bauchi Governor, Senator Mohammed


The newly appointed 24 commissioners were sworn in by Bauchi State Governor Senator Bala Mohammed on Monday.

After taking the oath of office, the new appointees were also given their respective portfolios in the Government House’s brand-new Banquet Hall.

The commissioners were given the oaths of office and allegiance by Justice Rabi Talatu Umar, the chief judge of the Bauchi State.

While addressing the commissioners, Mohammed said, “I am indeed very delighted to stand before you today on this auspicious and the finest moment of our political history as we converge for the swearing in ceremony of Commissioners who are members of Bauchi State Executive Council that will assist me in discharging the mantle of leadership during my second term as Executive Governor of our great State of Bauchi.”

The Governor tasked the commissioners to ensure constant community engagement in their respective local councils to ensure the continuity and sustainability of the administration’s goals.

He called on them to double their commitment and efforts for further growth and development of the State.

Mohammed also said that his resolve to attain an administration of credibility and integrity informed the appointment of people of impeccable character and high integrity as commissioners.

“Those appointed are knowledgeable people and they know all the problems and challenges of the State and its people. They are tested and trusted professionals, technocrats, and dependable politicians,” Mohammed said.

The Governor also urged the commissioners to be the servants of the people, adding that they must be mindful of the oath they took to fear God, above all things.

Speaking on behalf of the new appointees, Hon Aminu Hammayo thanked the Governor for finding them worthy of the appointment among many other eminently qualified people across the State.

Governor Bala went further to announce their portfolios as follows: Ibrahim Gambo Galadima – Works and Transport; Bello Maiwada – Natural Resources; Danlami Ahmad Kawule – Housing and Environment; Mahmud Baba Maaji Abubakar – Commerce and Industry; Dr Lydia H. Tsammani – Higher Education and Ahmad Aliyu Jalam – Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs.

Others are: Usman Danturaki Garba – Information and Communications; Yakubu Ibrahim Hamza – Religious Affairs and Social Reorientation; Mohammed’ Salees – Youths and Sports Development; Abdul Hassan – Culture and Tourism; Dr Yakubu Adamu takes charge of the Ministry of Finance and Modibbo U. A Ahmad- Power, Science and Technology.

Also assigned portfolio are: Hajara Jibrin Gidado – Women Affairs and Child Development; Faruk Mustapha – Special Duties and Rural Development; Hajara Yakubu Wanka takes over the newly established Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs and Disaster Management; Hon Aminu Hammayo was returned to the Ministry of Budget and Economic Planning; Hassan El-Yakub SAN, Attorney General and Commissioner of Justice as well as Mohammed Hamisu Shira – Cooperatives and SMES Development.

The rest are Abubakar Abdulhamid Bununu who was posted to the newly established Ministry of Security and Internal Affairs; Prof Simon Madugu Yalams – Agriculture; Dr Adamu Umar Sambo – Health; Jamila Mohammed Dahiru – Education; Abdulrazak Nuhu Zaki – Water Resources and Amina Mohammed Katagum – Lands and Survey.
