- Prosecutor ASP Raji Akeem details offense on Nov 28, 2022, at 20 Salumonu St., Agege, Lagos
- Defendant pleaded guilty on Dec 2, 2022, and has remained in correctional facility
On Tuesday, a teenager named Ishola Yusuf was handed a two-year and three-month sentence at the Borstal Correctional Centre in Abeokuta, Ogun, for his involvement in an attempted theft.
Chief Magistrate Bola Osunsanmi declared that the sentence would be served concurrently and did not include the possibility of a fine.
“It will serve as a deterrent to others,” she said.
Earlier, the prosecutor, ASP Raji Akeem, told the court that the offence was committed on November 28, 2022, at 20 Salumonu St., Agege, Lagos.
According to Mr. Akeem, the defendant was brought to court on December 2, 2022, where he entered a plea of guilty and has since remained in the correctional facility.
Mr. Akeem explained that the accused managed to climb over the fence of Ben Njoku’s residence with the intention of committing theft.
The prosecutor pointed out that the accused was apprehended before carrying out the criminal act.
This act, he added, goes against the stipulations outlined in Sections 168 and 406 of the 2015 Criminal Law of Lagos State.
