  • Umahi to oversee ministry of works

President Bola Tinubu has appointed immediate past governor of Rivers state, Nyesom Wike, as  minister of the Federal Capital Territory, FCT.

By the same token, Tinubu put former governor of Ebonyi state, Dave Umahi, in charge of Ministry of Works.

Tinubu is expected to assign portfolios to other ministerial nominees confirmed by the senate as he seeks to put in place a proper cabinet to help him manage the country’s affairs and find solutions to plethora of challenges that plague the it.

Many have waited with batted breathe, wondering why Tinubu is taking so long to form a cabinet in a country that has been pushed to the precipice by galloping inflation, widespread insecurity and economic hardship occasioned by subsidy removal.

After its seven days of screening of the forty nine ministerial nominees sent to it for screening by President Tinubu, the Senate did not also confirm the appointment of the former Deputy Governor of Taraba State and a Ministerial nominee from the State, Senator Abubakar Danladi.

Also not confirmed by the Upper Chamber is one of the Ministerial nominees from Delta State, Stella Okotete.

According to the President of the Senate, Senator Godswill Akpabio, the Senate did not clear because of security reports that must be cleared
