- Marley emphasizes commitment to eradicating drug use during visit to NDLEA’s national headquarters in Abuja
Mr. Ossai Ovie Success, an aide to the former Delta State Governor, Ifeanyi Okowa, has indicated his intention to pursue legal action against the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) should Nigerian music sensation, Afeez Fashola, popularly known as Naira Marley, be observed smoking subsequent to his interaction with the agency.
Naira Marley, on Thursday, expressed his endorsement of the agency’s anti-drug abuse campaign, particularly aimed at the younger generation, teenagers, followers, and his own fans, the Marlians.
During his visit to the national headquarters in Abuja, where he met with the Executive Chairman, Brigadier General Buba Marwa (retd.), Marley emphasized his commitment to the cause of eradicating drug use from the streets.
The decision of the agency to involve Naira Marley in this capacity has elicited a range of responses from users of social media platforms.
On his Facebook page, Ovie Success posed a query regarding whether the music artist had genuinely ceased the habit of ‘smoking’ prior to being entrusted with the responsibility of making such a declaration.
He stated, “I will sue NDLEA if I see Nairamarley sm*king on his music video or on ground and if any of artistes signed to his record label are seen smoking.
“I hope @officialnairam1 has stopped smoking before being paid by NDLEA to campaign against smoking and drugs.
“I am watching him carefully because I am happy with this campaign.”
