  • The fair-skinned entrepreneur was overwhelmed by depression following her marriage breakdown

Farida Abdulkabir, a well-known socialite in Lagos State, has shed light on the reasons driving her contemplation of leaping into the waters of the Third Mainland Bridge lagoon in Lagos.

Abdulkabir, who is also the proprietor of House of Phreedah, attributed her actions on Thursday night to a combination of frustrations, a failed marriage, and other factors.

In a widely circulated audio message on social media, she disclosed that her lavish N100 million marriage to fellow Lagos socialite, Demola Okulaja, fell apart just two months after its inception.

A video that circulated virally depicted Abdulkabir being consoled, while rescuers assured her that ending her life wasn’t necessary, and that things would improve for her. She was eventually ushered into her vehicle and transported to an undisclosed location.

The fair-skinned entrepreneur and socialite is the proprietor of a beauty lounge and spa situated on Akerele Street in Surulere, Lagos.

After her marriage crumbled, Farida, overwhelmed by depression, contemplated ending her life by exiting her black SUV on the Third Mainland Bridge and plunging into the lagoon.

Her recent nuptials were celebrated with great fanfare, uniting her with another prominent Lagos socialite, Demola Okulaja.

Abdulkabir revealed that since Okulaja departed from their marital home, she has been grappling with various instances of suicidal inclinations.

She said, “Friends and families warned me not to go into the marriage. They told me that the man only wanted my money but I was recalcitrant.

“I am so sorry for putting my children in such a position. I would not have forgiven myself if I had abandoned them after committing suicide.

Meanwhile, Farida and her estranged spouse engaged in public disputes, airing shocking family secrets on social media and engaging in verbal altercations, resorting to derogatory language to address each other.
