JUST-IN: Osun Assembly Suspends Ongoing Staff Audit Amid Controversies, Begins Probe

Adeleke's staff audit has been plagued by crises and accusations, prompting the Osun Assembly to temporarily halt the exercise

The ongoing staff audit mandated by Governor Ademola Adeleke has been the subject of multiple crises and accusations; as a result, the Osun Assembly on Monday temporarily paused the exercise.

WITHIN NIGERIA reports that various labour unions had expressed their outrage in recent weeks over allegations of harassment and humiliation committed by the consultant in charge of the exercises, which resulted in altercations at the exercise’s location.

The Osun State University workers had disrupted the exercise on Friday in protest over allegations of harassment. They also sought an apology.

Recent events include the Osun State House of Assembly suspending the exercise indefinitely following a Monday emergency meeting among members due to a number of claims made against the consultant managing the audit, Sa’adat Bakrin-Ottun.

A statement by the press secretary, Olamide Tiamiyu to Osun state speaker, Adewale Egbedun stated that the Assembly has directed the consultant handling the staff audit of workers in the employment of the State Government, Sally Tibbot Consulting, to suspend the process until further notice.

He noted that: “The directive of the House was conveyed after an emergency meeting with other members to review the petitions written against the consultant to the Osun State House of Assembly.

“The Speaker further constituted an ad-hoc committee to look into the issues around the petition and come up with necessary recommendations. Consequently, all relevant stakeholders have been invited to the House of Assembly for a meeting on Tuesday 22nd August by 10.00 am prompt.”
