Major General Hilary Nzan, Commander 4 Special Forces Command of the Nigerian Army Doma in Nasarawa State, gave the charge during an operational visit to formations and units under the command in Niger State.
Headquarters 403 Amphibious Brigade, 221 Tank Battalion, and 101 Special Forces Battalion are among the formations and units under the 4 Special Forces Command Doma that the commander visited in Niger State.
Addressing officers and men of the command, he urged them to redouble their efforts in combating insecurity in communities throughout the country’s North Central region.
He stated that the Nigerian Army has remained committed to securing all parts of the country to pave the way for peace and socio-economic development, emphasizing the need for troops to be adaptable in their approach to any security threats in the region.
The commander specifically charged them with flushing out bandits terrorizing Niger from the various forests where they were hiding.
It was gathered that the bandits besieged the state through the affected forests, where they also retreated after carrying out their nefarious activities.
Security experts had repeatedly urged the federal government to repurpose the forests for productive purposes.
Major General Nzan expressed hope that the troops would be able to end the wave of attacks in the state.
To ensure success, he emphasized the importance of the troops maintaining professionalism and unity at all times, as well as establishing a strong synergy with the civilian public and other security agencies in the areas of intelligence gathering and information sharing.
During his interaction with the soldiers’ wives, he urged the women to be persistent in praying for their husbands to be focused on confronting the bandits and insurgents who terrorize most of the country.
