On Monday, the Osun State Government announced that its residents are in line to receive a total of 14,516 bags of 50kg rice and 3,200 metric tons of maize as part of the Federal Government’s relief package. This initiative aims to alleviate the impact of the removal of petrol subsidy within the state.
According to a statement released by Mr. Kolapo Alimi, the State Commissioner for Information and Public Engagement, the details of this allocation were obtained in Osogbo. He emphasized the government’s commitment to ensuring transparency during the distribution process of these food items.
Mr. Alimi further indicated that a subsequent batch of the relief package, containing 600 bags of rice and maize, is anticipated to be received by the state government. He assured the public that as soon as the state has received the complete consignment, the distribution process will commence.
The statement partly read, “We hereby wish to inform you that the second batch of federal government food palliative distribution is poised to commence as soon as possible, and you are scheduled to receive 14,516 bags of 50kg rice and 3,200MT of maize.
“The update above is necessary to keep the public abreast of development on the palliative distribution. A truck of 600 bags is still outstanding from the first batch.
“The government wants to ensure full delivery before launching out on the distribution. We assure the public of transparency and accountability in the sharing of the foodstuffs to the citizenry.”
