Umahi’s Emergence As Works Minister Welcome Development For South East – Nwoke

Victor Nwoke has praised President Tinubu's ministerial choice of former governor David Umahi as a positive step for the South-East.

The appointment of former state governor David Umahi by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is a positive step for the South-East, according to Mr. Victor Nwoke, who represents the Abakaliki North constituency in the Ebonyi State House of Assembly.

Nwoke, a politician for the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), revealed this to reporters shortly after a meeting with his constituents.

He exhorted Umahi to repair all of Nigeria’s appalling roads, particularly those in the South-East geopolitical region.

Nwoke attributed the high number of traffic accidents in Nigeria to past administrations’ failure to repair all of the poor roads.

“The appointment of the former governor of Ebonyi State, David Umahi by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is a welcome development and will bring great benefits to the state, South-East region and Nigeria at large.

“He (Umahi) should use the experience gained while constructing Ebonyi roads to properly fix all the deplorable Nigerian roads.

“He should look into the road that leads from Ebonyi through Benue State to Abuja. The road that leads from Ebonyi to Cross River should be constructed,” he said.

The lawmaker also called on the minister-designate to complete the second Niger Bridge.

He added that, “The road that leads from Enugu State to Abuja, which is now impassable as well as the East-West road, should also be given attention.”
