‘Calm down, forget about me’ – El-Rufai to Nigerians

He has appealed to Nigerians still preoccupied with him to allow him to enjoy his new 'found freedom'

Nasir El-rufai

Nasir El-Rufai, the immediate past governor of Kaduna State, has appealed to Nigerians still preoccupied with him to allow him to enjoy his new ‘found freedom’ now that he is out of public office and out of the political arena.

El-Rufai, who is reportedly vacationing in Lebanon following the Senate’s refusal to confirm his ministerial nomination, made the appeal on Tuesday.

Wednesday, he told those who remained obsessed with him to “calm down,” “forget about him,” and “move on with their lives.”

In what had become a daily nugget on his Twitter handle with the caption ‘Wednesday Wisdom’, El-Rufai wrote:

WEDNESDAY WISDOM: “You Make Your Own Heaven and Hell Right Here on Earth” by The Undisputed Truth is one of my all-time favorites from our Barewa College days. Enjoy the music and reflect on the lyrics on this beautiful Wednesday morning.

It appears that I permanently occupy the brains of some people even while I am chilling in my little corner. To these souls, I say – calm down, forget about @elrufai and enjoy the music if you can, he added.

Invading Niger is declaring civil war against northern Nigeria, El-Rufai warns Tinubu

Former Governor Nasir El-Rufai has cautioned President Bola Tinubu that any military offensive by ECOWAS forces on Niger would be interpreted as a declaration of civil conflict against the northern region of Nigeria.

This warning was conveyed through a tweet shared by Mr. El-Rufai on Tuesday morning, marking his first public statement regarding the recent political events in Niger and the responses from ECOWAS.

“As ECOWAS beats the drums of war, I recall the 1970s rock classic by Dire Straits – ‘Brothers in Arms’, because a war within our subregion is a war between brothers,” Mr El-Rufai said.

He added that “indeed, the people of Niger Republic are the same with those living in Northern Nigeria. Let us bend therefore over backwards to avoid this civil war between brothers.”
