Samuel Ortom

Samuel Ortom, the immediate past governor of Benue State, has congratulated President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on the appointment and inauguration of Nyesom Wike and Professor Joseph Utsev as ministers.

Ortom stated that the former Rivers State governor, Wike, and Professor Utsev, whom he knows personally as a friend in the case of Wike and a former appointee in the case of Utsev, will bring their wealth of experience to their new positions.

He described Wike as a worthy ally who strengthened ties between Rivers and Benue states and supported the Benue people in difficult times.

According to Terver Akase, the former governor’s media aide, Wike will bring the desired development to the FCT as minister because he is a “dogged, reliable, and seasoned administrator.”

He also expressed confidence that Professor Utsev, who served as Commissioner for Water Resources and Environment under him, has the necessary experience and capacity to excel as Minister of Water Resources and Sanitation.

Corn sellers are responsible for Insecurity in Abuja—FCT Minister, Wike

Nyesom Wike, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), has prohibited street trading within Abuja. Wike attributes the ban to his belief that individuals who engage in activities like selling corn and street hawking contribute to the insecurity and criminal occurrences in the nation’s capital.

Wike, who formerly served as the governor of Rivers State, unveiled this directive on Tuesday while sternly addressing the Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) and Federal Capital Development Authority (FCDA) leadership teams.

He urged them to be committed to doing the “right things”.
