Four residents of Gidan Damo village in Zamfara State’s Tsafe Local Government Area have reportedly died after armed robbers raided the community on Wednesday night and opened fire on seven residents.
In a phone chat with Daily Post, a local who begged to remain anonymous characterised the attack as awful.
He said that the robbers rode their motorcycles into the area and began firing randomly.
“They shot seven people in our community, and out of them, four were confirmed dead on the spot,” he added.
Speaking further, he explained that the villagers ran into the bush for safety, and some of them could not find their family members.
Asked if the terrorists kidnapped anyone during the attack, he stated: “We cannot be sure as of now if the terrorists abducted some of our people because, as I am talking to you now, I am hiding inside a farm for safety.”
It learnt that the insecurity situation in Zamfara has become terrible following a resurgence of banditry. In the past two months, bandits have been operating on a daily basis.
Efforts to reach Zamfara State Police Command’s spokesman, ASP Yazod Abdulahi, for confirmation, proved unsuccessful at the time of filing this report.
