JUST-IN: Appeal Court Sacks LP’s Abure, Recognises Apapa As National Chairman

Last week, a separate Appeal Court in Benin City, Edo State capital, affirmed Mr Abure as the national chairman of the Labour Party

There is uncertainty as a result of Julius Abure’s removal as chairman of the Labour Party by the Court of Appeal in Owerri on Thursday.

In the same ruling, the court also confirmed Lamidi Apapa as the party’s national chairman.

The court mandated that all governorship candidates created by the Apapa-led National Working Committee (NWC) in the states of Imo, Bayelsa, and Kogi be recognised and published by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) without delay.

The court also dismissed Senator Athan Achonu, the governorship candidate of Imo State and others from the Abure-led faction of the Labour Party.

WITHIN NIGERIA recalls that the Court of Appeal in Benin, Edo State, had on August 14 affirmed Abure as the chairman of LP.
