Muhammed Idris, Minister of Information and National Orientation

Muhammed Idris, Minister of Information and National Orientation, has stated that the era of using propaganda to promote government policies and programs is over.

He stated this Thursday in Abuja at the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (NIPR) annual general meeting/conference.

Idris stated that his tenure would ensure that it always provides credible information to Nigerians and boldly admits mistakes when they occur.

He stated that this administration would usher in a new approach based on truth, mutual respect, and empathy, which would help to bridge the gap between the government and the people.

The minister, a fellow of the NIPR, has promised an open-door policy.

Being a minister will not change anything. My doors are open. My brothers are my brothers; my colleagues are still my colleagues. If the minister fails, the NIPR has failed, he said.

Gov Eno orders relocation of Chinese firm over environmental infractions

Governor Umo Eno of Akwa Ibom state has ordered the immediate relocation of a Chinese manufacturing firm, Golden Tripod International Limited, located in Ikot Ebido Oku, Itu Local Government Area, in response to increasing public allegations of unhealthy emissions from its factory.

Eno, as a fallout of Thursday’s flag-off construction of the 2.2Km Tabernacle Road project, gave the order to move the Chinese firm, which deploys aluminium for the production of brake pads for tricycles and motorcycles, to the State Industrial Park as the befitting location for such ventures.

The governor directed, “The Commissioner for Environment and Commissioner for Internal Security, I want to have a report on what this factory manufactures in the next 48 hours.

“I understand that there are always serious emissions around here. First, find out what they do and immediately relocate them to the Industrial Park. It is improper to site factories in the middle of a city”.
