The Minister of Works, Mr David Umahi, has assured that the reconstruction work on the Abuja-Kaduna-Kano highway would be completed by the first quarter of 2024.
Umahi made this known while inspecting the project on Thursday to assess the progress made so far by Julius Berger Nigeria Plc, the contractor handling the project.
The Minister made the remarks when the Kaduna State Deputy Governor, Dr. Hadiza Sabuwa Balarabe received him on behalf of Governor Uba Sani while on an inspection tour of federal roads in the State.
Wike said, “We came to Kaduna by the directive of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for this important assignment.
“Mr president has directed that I should personally come and inspect this road, Kaduna-Abuja and report directly to him.”
The Minister commended the Kaduna State government for doing a lot in enhancing security of the citizens in the State.
In a remark, the Deputy Governor stated that good road infrastructure is the most important public asset and agent for social cohesion.
She appealed to the Federal Ministry of Works to ensure the speedy completion of the Abuja-Kaduna-Zaria road in view of its strategic importance, saying that the Eastern bye-pass whose construction began in 2002 was yet to be completed.
She opined that when the roads were completed, they would enhance the security network and economic activities in the area.
