- Funds allocated by Federal Government for grain procurement, part of it intended for distribution by each state.
- Talabi states elderly, physically challenged individuals, and women will receive special consideration during commodity distribution
- Ogun State establishes a committee of credible individuals to oversee palliative distribution
Mr. Olatokunbo Talabi, the Secretary to the Government of Ogun State, has officially verified the reception of the initial shipment of 3,000 bags of rice donated by the Federal Government. This is in line with the government’s strategy to allocate grains as a countermeasure against the impact of fuel subsidy removal.
Talabi confirmed that the process of reconditioning the grains and reconfiguring the commodities is presently underway. This preparation is being carried out to ensure that the goods are properly packaged before their eventual distribution to the public.
Responding to inquiries from reporters at his office in Oke-Mosan, Abeokuta, Mr. Talabi affirmed that the state administration has been allocated funds by the Federal Government for the acquisition of grains. A segment of these funds is designated to obtain the commodities that will subsequently be disbursed to the residents by individual states.
He said, “Special considerations will be given to the elderly, physically challenged persons, and women, among others, in the distribution of the commodities.”
He said that the state government had already set up a committee of highly credible persons to be involved in the distribution of the palliatives.
