The Jos Electricity Distribution (JED) has announced that customers in Plateau, Bauchi, and Gombe states will be without power from August 28 to September 2.
The planned outage will last from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. during that time frame.
The organization’s Head of Corporate Communications, Dr Friday Elijah, announced the announcement on Saturday in Jos.
He explained that the Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) planned the outage to allow its local engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) contractors to make installations.
’The planned outage by TCN is to enable its EPCC contractors to safely connect the gantry beam of the new APO line to the existing Lafia line-Jos 330kv double circuit.
’Please note that there will be an increase in load shedding during this period as the 330KV Jos complex will remain on supply via Kaduna-Jos 330KV line, he said.
The JED official urged customers to be patient and bear with the situation, saying that the company is determined to improve services.
Police confiscate over 800 cartons of suspected fake, expired drugs in Kano
On Saturday, the Kano Police Command announced the confiscation of more than 800 cartons of suspected fake and expired drugs at Malam Kato Market in Fagge Local Government Area of the state.
According to a statement by SP Abdullahi Kiyawa, the command’s public relations officer in Kano, the drugs were discovered in two warehouses within the market.
The recovered drugs include 514 cartons of Eemistxmin/emstifer syrup, 219 cartons of 5mg Lisinopril tablets, 7 cartons of 5mg Amlodipine tablets, 87 cartons of 50mg Atenol, and 40 cartons of Frusemide injection.
Mr. Kiyawa noted that a team of detectives dispatched to the scene by the state Commissioner of Police, Usaini Gumel, evacuated the drugs and handed them over to the National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC).
