One Dies, Three Injured In Multiple Accidents In Ogun

A total of six persons were involved in this accident that happened early this morning

Accidents that happened on the Lagos-Ibadan Motorway on Sunday and Monday left one person dead and three others with various degrees of injuries.

It was gathered that the first accident happened on the Lagos-Ibadan Motorway in the Conoil area, and the second accident occurred on the same motorway in the Makun area.

Ismail Akinola, an eyewitness who saw the second accident, claimed that drivers’ inattentiveness was what caused the several collisions.

He said, “What happened was that the truck carrying container wanted to switch lane without paying attention to the tipper vehicle beside it. The tipper on sighting the truck tried to avoid collision but it was too late and therefore resulted in a multiple collision. I think it is due to lack of concentration on the part of the drivers.”

Confirming the accidents, the Public Relations Officer of the Ogun State Command of the Federal Road Safety Corps, Florence Okpe, said that one person died, while three people were injured in different accidents involving seven persons along the expressway.

Okpe said, “I can confirm that one person died in an accident around Conoil axis of Lagos-Ibadan Expressway which was caused by speeding and loss of control. The accident which involved a Man-diesel truck with registration number LSR472XA, happened around 1825hrs yesterday.

“Also, three persons were injured in an accident involving three vehicles along the Makun area of the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway. A total of six persons were involved in this accident that happened early this morning.

“It involved a Long Truck with registration number T-13690LA, a Tipper truck with registration number AAA136YC and a Cabstar vehicle.”

She noted that the remains of the dead person had been deposited at the morgue while the injured victims had been taken to hospital for treatment.

“The body of the dead person has been deposited at the Idera morgue in Sagamu while the injured persons have been taken to hospital for treatment”, she concluded.
