- Appointee previously served as the Technical Assistant on Treasury Matters to Gov. Radda
Governor Dikko Umaru Radda has given his approval for the appointment of Malam Nura Tela as the new Accountant General of Katsina State, succeeding Alhaji Malik Anas, who is set to retire.
The appointment will become effective on August 31, 2023.
This development was disclosed in a statement on Monday by Gov. Radda’s spokesperson, Ibrahim Kaula Mohammed.
Nura Tela, a Katsina indigene from Jikamshi, Musawa Local Government Area, previously served as the Technical Assistant on Treasury Matters to Gov. Radda.
In the same vein, Gov. Radda has assigned the new role of Special Adviser on Banking and Finance to the state’s outgoing Accountant General, Alhaji Malik Anas, who has served the state devotedly for 35 years.
“Both Malam Nura Tela and Alhaji Malik Anas will officially assume their new responsibilities on August 31, 2023. The Governor’s office holds unwavering confidence in their capacity to make substantial contributions to the ongoing growth and development of the state,” Kaula noted in the statement.
WITHIN NIGERIA recalls that the governor on May approved the immediate sack of all political appointments in the state barely 24 hours after his inauguration.
Radda and his deputy, Faruk Lawal, were elected on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC) during the March 18 governorship poll.
The governor on May directed all political appointees to hand over the affairs of their offices to the most senior director in their ministries, departments and agencies.
He, however, said the directive has exempted the state Pilgrims Welfare Board, which will continue as a committee until the completion of 2023 Hajj exercise.
Radda expressed appreciation to the sacked appointees for their contributions towards the development of Katsina State.
