Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, FCT, Nyesom Wike has said the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) does not have the right to discipline him over his membership of president Bola Tinubu cabinet.
Wike is currently the minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja, a position he is holding under the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
Speaking during an interview on Channels Television’s Politics Today, Wike said he remains a member of the PDP despite being in the APC government of Tinubu.
“Party is just a vehicle. I campaigned for Tinubu during the elections and I’m not here to do party. I’m here to help President Tinubu achieve his renewed hope agenda” Wike said
He further said he does not regret his decision and said no member of the PDP is capable of sanctioning him over anti-party activities.
Wike said he should instead discipline the PDP for going against the rotation agreement in the PDP’s constitution.
He also stated Tinubu is leading Nigeria on the right path, urging Nigeria to be patient.
He noted that the tough decisions Tinubu had taken would benefit the country in the long run noting that success does not come with ease.
