The House of Representatives ad hoc committee, which was created to look into the issue of crude oil theft and revenue loss from gas, has made a strong commitment to expose the individuals responsible for oil theft in the country.

Kabiru Rurum, the committee chairman, made this statement during a press briefing before their upcoming investigative hearing on September 7.

Rurum emphasized that the oil sector is crucial for the country’s income, and the committee aims to conduct a thorough investigation unlike previous attempts.

“The purpose of the committee is to reveal who and who are the architects of what is going on in the area of crude oil theft.”

He said apportioning blame to security agencies would not suffice, adding that stakeholders in the oil sectors should be held responsible, including Chevron, Shell, and communities.

“We need to identify the culprits; this is the purpose of the investigation. Everybody, including critical stakeholders, should come and tell us their side of the story,” said Mr Rurum.
