- Shettima vowed to retire Atiku from politics
- He said he would buy Atiku goats and broilers to rear
Vice President Kashim Shettima has opined that it’s time for Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, to quit active politics.
Addressing journalists after the Presidential Election Petition Tribunal judgment, Shettima vowed to retire Atiku from politics.
Shettima said he would retire Atiku to Fombina, not Dubai or Morocco, where he would rear animals.
Within Nigeria had reported on Wednesday that the five-man panel, in a final judgement read by Justice Haruna Simon Tsammani, upheld the election of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
The tribunal dismissed the three petitions filed by the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Labour Party, LP, and the Allied Peoples Movement, APM.
The Tribunal resolved all the issues against the petitioners in favour of the respondents, President Tinubu, his Vice, Kashim Shettima and the All Progressives Congress, APC.
The PDP and the LP candidates, Abubakar Atiku and Peter Obi, respectively, have vowed to challenge the judgement at the Supreme Court.
However, Shettima resorted to turning the loss of Atiku at the tribunal as a source of derision.
“Atiku Abubakar is an elder statesman that I hold in very high esteem, and anybody who knows the social-cultural interaction between the Fulanis and the Kanuris in the North will know that I have the liberty to haul all insults at him, and he will bear,” Shettima said
“We are not going to retire Atiku Abubakar to Dubai or Morocco. I will retire him to Fombina, I will buy him goats and broilers and layers so that he can spend his days rearing goats and broilers.
“On a more serious note, he is an elder statesman. The nation needs him; experience is not something that you can buy in the marketplace. We will tap into his wealth of experience and exposure to catapult the nation to a higher level,”
