In the early hours of Friday, an unknown individual met an electrifying end while attempting to steal transformer cables within the premises of the Niger State Printing Press in Minna, the capital of Niger State.
The lifeless body of this individual was discovered hanging on the transformer by staff members of the printing press on Friday morning.
Aminu Ubandoma, the head of the legal unit at the Abuja Electricity Distribution Company (AEDC), confirmed this incident to the media.
He noted that the company had been receiving numerous reports of transformer vandalism and was actively collaborating with law enforcement agencies, particularly the police, to minimize such incidents.
DSP Wasiu Abiodun, the spokesperson for the Niger Police Command, reported that they received information about the incident at approximately 11:00 a.m. on Friday.
The event took place within the vicinity of the old secretariat area at the printing press premises, where the body of an adult male was discovered near a transformer, along with a cable cutter and damaged cables. It is strongly suspected that electrocution was the cause of death.
Subsequently, the Morris patrol team transported the body to the General Hospital in Minna, where medical personnel confirmed the individual’s demise.
