The Federal Capital Territory Police Command apprehended six individuals posing as legitimate drivers, engaged in criminal activities within the nation’s capital.
FCT Commissioner of Police, Haruna Garba, disclosed this during a press conference at the command’s headquarters on Thursday.
Furthermore, six vehicles linked to these suspects were confiscated. The Commissioner clarified that these suspects were employing a deceptive tactic by using vehicles displaying a combination of foreign and local license plates, or foreign plates at the rear and Nigerian plates at the front, to deceive unsuspecting citizens.
He further explained that their modus operandi involved luring passengers into their vehicles and, during the journey, robbing them of their mobile phones and other valuable belongings.
“The moment they carry out this criminal act and to avoid being traced or linked to the crime, they quickly remove the Nigeria Plate number. The suspects will be charged to court at the conclusion of investigation.”
No fewer than 13 other suspected criminals were also paraded for committing different crimes across the territory.
