- The individual accused the election of irregularities and corruption, requesting the court to declare him the genuine winner.
- The court, consisting of a three-member panel of justices, unanimously dismissed the PDP candidate’s appeal
The Court of Appeal in Abuja on Saturday affirmed Wasiu Eshinlokun-Sanni of the All Progressives Congress as the winner of the Lagos Central Senatorial District election.
The PDP candidate, Francis Gomez, through his team of lawyers led by Joseph Daudu (SAN), contended among other things that the APC and its candidate did not secure the majority of lawful votes cast in the election.
He alleged that the election was characterised by irregularities and corrupt practices, asking the court to declare him the authentic winner of the election.
But the court in a unanimous decision by a three-member panel of justices dismissed the appeal by the PDP candidate, saying the appeal lacked merit.
