Anambra State Police Command personnel successfully rescued a kidnapping victim named Abuchi, hailing from Orumba South LGA in Anambra State.

This rescue operation occurred in Umuota Village, Obosi, within the Idemili North Local Government Area of the state. It transpired following a confrontation with the abductors, accompanied by a gunfire exchange, after local residents alerted the police to the kidnapping incident.

The state’s police spokesperson, Tochukwu Ikenga, conveyed these details in a press statement issued on Sunday. The police officers were on an anti-crime patrol in Obosi around 7.30 pm on Saturday when they received the information from concerned residents.

He said, “One of the hoodlums was shot and arrested while others escaped, some with bullet wounds. One double-barrelled pistol, and two live and one expended cartridge were recovered from the gang.

“The arrested suspect gave his name as Nwasu Ikenna from Obosi. He identified those that escaped as Ebuka, aka Big; Chinedu Emmanuel, and Chukwu Ojoto.

“The hoodlum, who identified Ebuka as the leader of the gang, gave up the ghost on the way to hospital for treatment.”
