Two sisters killed in Ogun building collapse

Despite efforts to rush the injured sisters to the nearby Tomade Hospital, both Suliyat and Nofisat were declared dead by a doctor

The family of Ayanshina is grieving after a tragic incident in Ojodu Abiodun, Ogun State, where their building collapsed during heavy rainfall, resulting in the untimely death of their two daughters, 16-year-old Suliyat and 25-year-old Nofisat.

The sisters were inside the building when the downpour began, and it took some time for neighbors to rescue them from the wreckage. Despite their efforts to rush the injured sisters to a nearby hospital, Tomade Hospital, both Suliyat and Nofisat were pronounced dead by a doctor on duty.

An eyewitness from the community, speaking anonymously, said collective efforts were made by residents to save the victims from the rubble.

The source said, “The sisters were inside the house when the incident happened. We all jointly made efforts to rescue them from the wreckage. We immediately took them to the hospital. It’s so sad that we lost them.”

Meanwhile, after the matter was reported to the police, the family insisted that the deceased be buried according to Islamic rites.

The state Public Relations Officer, Odutola Omolola, who confirmed the incident, said the family insisted that the victims be buried immediately.
