The King of Akoh Kingdom, Rivers State, His Royal Majesty Eze Ikegbidi, has been arrested by the operatives of the Department of State Services, DSS, over the killing of Bako Angbashim.

Angbashim was Ahoada Divisional Police Officer who was gruesomely murdered by gunmen suspected to be cultists on Friday night.

The DPO was killed and dismembered by the fearsome assailants during an operation with his men in the area.

The monarch was apprehended by the secret police on Monday. His arrest followed an indefinite suspension slammed on him by the State Governor, Siminilayi Fubara.

Governor Fubara had in a statement, accused the monarch of “ceding control of his territory to the notorious David Gift popularly known as 2-Baba and his gang to freely operate and carry out their criminal activities.”

The Governor had also placed a N100,000,000 bounty on the prime suspect, saying anyone with useful information that could lead to his arrest and prosecution should report to relevant authorities.

It was gathered that the monarch was later handed over to the State Criminal Intelligence and Investigation Department in Port Harcourt, the State capital, for interrogation.

The Rivers State Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Grace Iringe-Koko, however said she does not have details of the arrest.
