- Six councillors and 10 members of the Assembly petitioned the House regarding the conduct of the chairman
- The House established an ad hoc committee to investigate allegations and report back in two months, directing the Vice-Chairman to take over affairs for three months
Khalid Ishaq Diso, the chairman of the Gwale Local Government Council, has been placed on suspension by the Kano State House of Assembly for a duration of three months.
After allegations of the chairman’s illegal behaviour of selling government lands were presented before the House on Tuesday, the report of the Committee on Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs was adopted.
The Assembly said that 10 out of the councillors’ six members petitioned the House against the chairman’s behaviour.
Jubril Ismail Falgore, the speaker of the State Assembly, claims that the council chairman was also charged with making decisions on his own without consulting the council members.
In order to accomplish this, the House established an ad hoc committee to look into the claims and report back in two months. The Vice-Chairman was then given the authority to run the organisation for three months while the inquiry was ongoing.
