Rampaging gunmen terrorising Nigeria’s South East region have killed Maduka Zachary.
Zachary was the Labour Party chieftain in Abia State.
The political leader was said to have been grisly nurdered in his residence on Wednesday. He was reportedly beheaded by the assailants who invaded his home in Uturu, Isuikwuato Local Government Area of the State.
It’s gathered that the slain party chieftain served as Campaign Director General of LP in the Isuikwuato Umunneochi Federal Constituency during the last election. .
The Police Public Relations Officer of Abia State Police Command, Maureen Chinaka, has not issued a statement concerning the incident.
However, the President General of the Coalition of South East Youth Leaders, COSEYL, Goodluck Ibem confirmed the unfortunate development.
Ibem who was unable to give details of the incident, simply said “the report is true”.
Since their foray into the mainstream of Nigerian politics last year, Labour Party has lost some top members to violent attacks by armed non-state actors.
Their members and supporters have also be persecuted and victimised by some persons in power.
