The Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) in the Adamawa/Taraba Command has reported the seizure of various smuggled goods worth N19.4 million in August.
The Command’s Comptroller, Alhaji Salisu Kazaure, revealed this information during a press briefing in Yola on Thursday.
The confiscated items included 200 pieces of raw donkey skin and the vehicle used for smuggling, along with 127 bags of foreign rice weighing 50kg each. Additionally, 12,355 litres of petrol contained in jerry cans were also seized.
“The Command will not rest on its oars in the fight against smuggling being perpetrated along the waterways and on land,” he said.
He praised the headquarters of NCS for prompt logistics support which, he said, enabled officers and men of the Command to perform optimally.
We will sustain collaboration with sister agencies and relevant stakeholders to check this ugly trend, ” he added.
