Delta State Governor Sheriff Oborevwori swore in Goodnews Agbi, the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) candidate in the March 18 governorship election, and eight others as special advisers yesterday.

Hon. Charles Oniyere, Mr. Michael Ogboru, Chief Ebikeme Clark, Chief Sylvester Oromoni, Hon. Shadrach Rapu, Dr. Donald Peterson, Hon. Peter Uviejitobor, and Chief Nathaniel Igbani were the other eight sworn in.

The governor stated that his administration is poised to break new ground in the state’s infrastructure development, inclusive economic growth, and sustainable development.

He added that the appointment of the new special advisers was part of his administration’s efforts to build a strong team of technocrats and policy experts to implement his administration’s policies and programs.

Meanwhile, the Gombe State House of Assembly has confirmed the 17 commissioner-nominees, more than six weeks after Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya presented the list to lawmakers.

Musa Buba, Chief Whip of the House, announced after the Assembly finished screening all 17 commissioner-nominees nominated by the governor to serve on the state executive council.

Daily Trust reports that the exercise commenced last Thursday with the screening of seven nominees: Mijinyawa Ardo Tilde (Funakaye); Asma’u Iganus (Shongom); Lt. Col. Abdullahi Bello (rtd) (Balanga); Dr Barnabas Malle (Kaltungo) and Adamu Inuwa Pantami (Gombe), Barrister Zubairu Mohammed Umar (Funakaye), Dr Aishatu Umar Maigari (Dukku) and Abdulkadir Mohammed Waziri (Akko LGA).

Dr Habu Dahiru (Yamaltu/Deba), Dr Usman Maijama’a Kallamu (Kwami), Mohammed Shettima Gadam (Kwami), and Muhammad Gambo Magaji (Dukku) were among the nine people screened on Friday.

Alhaji Nasiru Mohammed Aliyu (Yamaltu/Deba), Mohammed Saidu Fawu (Billiri), Salihu Baba Alkali (Nafada), Sanusi Ahmed Maidala (Akko), and Dr Abdullahi Bappah Garkuwa (Gombe) are the others.
