- Mrs. Kingibe expressed her readiness to collaborate with the former Rivers State Governor to ensure the best governance for FCT residents
- The FCT’s indigenes are aware of the Presidential Election Petition Court’s ruling that the FCT cannot be granted special status
Ireti Heebah Kingibe, the senator who represents the Federal Capital Territory in the 10th National Assembly, has said that Nyesom Wike, the minister of the FCT, was not properly advised when making some of his early judgements.
On Wednesday, the Senator spoke to the media just after the National Assembly Election Petition Tribunal in Abuja confirmed her election.
In order to ensure that inhabitants of the FCT receive the best possible administration, Mrs. Kingibe stated she was prepared to collaborate with the previous governor of Rivers State.
According to her, “On the issue of demolitions…you must remember, the Minister and I have different goals.
“I was elected by the people, therefore answerable to the people of the FCT, he’s not.
“But working together, I hope we can merge our interests, look at the whole picture of FCT then decide what and what needs …a lot of things need demolishing, no doubt… but the Minister is new in the FCT and maybe, he wasn’t guided right.”
Recall that Wike had blamed members of the elite for distorting the masterplan of the nation’s capital.
He said, “so many things have gone wrong in the FCT”.
