  • Justice Tijani Abubakar ruled that the invalidity of the appellants’ brief also impacted the appeal filed under it.
  • The appellants’ brief and appeal were dismissed by him.

The All Progressives Congress (APC) and Uche Nnaji, who ran for governor of Enugu State in the most recent election, appealed the Supreme Court’s decision to reinstate Peter Mbah of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) as the election’s victor.

The legal team of the APC and Nnaji failed to provide the court with a convincing reasoning as to why their ineffective brief should be accepted, according to a ruling issued on Friday by a five-member panel of the supreme court.

Justice Tijani Abubakar stated in the lead judgement that because the appellants’ brief was deemed to be illegal, the appeal for which the appeal was brought was likewise defective.

He proceeded to dismiss the brief and appeal filed by the appellants.
