Shettima appoints Baba-Ahmed, brother of LP’s Datti, as special adviser

Hakeem Baba-Ahmed

Vice-President Kashim Shettima has appointed Hakeem Baba-Ahmed has special adviser on political matters.

Baba-Ahmed is an elder brother of Datti Baba-Ahmed, vice-presidential candidate of the Labour Party (LP) in the February 25 election.

He is also the spokesperson of the Northern Elders Forum (NEF).

Baba-Ahmed announced the development in a post on Monday on his official X page.

He said now was not the time to claim neutrality or call out the government but time for Nigerians to pray for him and the country.

“It is time to make it public that I have accepted the call to serve as Special Adviser (Political) to the VP, @KShettim,” he said.

“This is not the time for fence-sitting or criticism when you can be useful in turning the country round. I am honored and humbled. Please pray for me & Nigeria.”

It’s believed that Baba-Ahmed did not support the aspiration of his brother for the presidency, a conjecture that his acceptance of of the appointment by Shettima only serves to corroborate.

Baba-Ahmed had served as chief of staff to Bukola Saraki, former senate president, from 2017 – 2019.
